Ruth Wyand, musician, educator, music historian and North Carolina Humanities Council Road Scholar, will speak about the lives and songs of 6 North Carolina women. Using photographs, narratives and live music she will highlight traditional Cherokee and Lumbee tribal storytellers, Ella May Wiggins, Etta Baker, Samantha Bumgarner and Nina Simone.
History Talks are Free to the public and held on the 3rd floor of the museum.
This project is made possible by funding from the North Carolina Humanities Council, a statewide nonprofit and affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
