Jayne Henderson, a featured luthier in Mount Airy Museum of Regional History’s new exhibit “The Luthier’s Craft: Instrument Making Traditions of the Blue Ridge,” will be at the museum on Wednesday August 21 at 4pm for a Meet and Greet and Artist’s talk. She will be talking about the process of building a ukulele, with a particular focus on her favorite part: the inlay work. Afterwards, Jayne will be at Old North State Winery at 7:30pm to unveil the uke that she built specifically for display in the Luthier’s Craft exhibit (replacing the one on loan.) This finely crafted instrument will be played during the MAUI – Mount Airy Ukulele Invasion concert featuring George Smith and 17 ukulele students. Both events are FREE to the public however donations are welcome.
